We love the Watkins :)

Pillow Fight at the Watkins Home. We were invited to the Watkins home on the 21st. We all had a blast as we always do when we spend time with them. We arrived at their home around 6pm, had dinner and the two 4 year olds (Cassidy and Carter) played the entire time. They put their sweet baby boy to bed and Alison and I enjoyed a wonderful chat and some cheap wine. Kevin and Heath talked computers and played video games in their office. Carter is one of the sweetest little boys I have ever met. He and Cassidy play so well together. Thanks Watkins we loved spending time at your home. The pics and video below are of Cassidy and Carter enjoying Frito Pie. The adults had yummy brisket, beans, chips and brownies for dessert :) It was sooo good.

My Children Playing Together

I know I only have one child but I thought this was so cool, and I had to post it. Cassidy and Jackie were actually playing together. This is a toy from a Happy Meal, and it is one of Cassidy's favorite toys. She has had it since she was 10 months old. Anyway, here is a video clip of the two of them playing with it :) Her room was a total mess because we were going through all of her toys and deciding what to donate to Good Will. I make her do this anytime she gets a bunch of new things.

Our Valentine :)

Cassidy had a nice Valentines Day this year. She woke up to find a card from Mommy and Daddy, some stuffed animals from the Disney Store, and some books. This is what her hair looks like most mornings :) Kevin's parents and my parents spoiled Cassidy for Valentines Day also. Our big gift to each other was a night out the Thursday before Valentines Day. We saw "The Uninvited" it was pretty good. We went to Studio Movie Grill so we ate while we watched the movie. One of Cassidy's daycare teachers watched her so it was quite the treat for Cassidy too.

Crazy Texas Weather :)

The weather has been so nice the last two weekends. Cassidy has been to several different parks here in Arlington or Mansfield. We love to search them out and there are so many to choose from here. It's hard to believe that less than two weeks ago we had an ice storm. I will take the wind and temperatures in the 70's any day. Cassidy on her way to the park that backs up to our house Stovall Park. It's older, but the trail is great for bikes, big wheels and even trikes.
Cassidy with one of her dolls watching the other kids. This has been one of her favorite things to do at the park since she was about 2. I'll ask her, "Cassidy what are you doing?" She always replies, "Momma I'm watching the other kids." I guess it's because she is an only child, and it does make me a little sad, but not sad enough to want another child :)
Going down the fast slide at our park. This one is pretty cool. I like it because it's not plastic and it goes really fast. Yes, I go down most of the slides also. It's so much more fun.
Cassidy in the backyard picking weeds I mean flowers. She had so much fun doing this. She brought them all inside and put them in a tub and added a bunch of water and soap of all things she told me that would make them grow.
Cassidy making her first Ice Angel. She insisted on doing this. It was the first ice/snow that she has ever seen. I think we may have had some snow when she was an infant, but she didn't remember it.

Cassidy's latest adventure

Late this afternoon Cassidy decided that it would be fun to try to swallow a jack. I have no idea where she found this jack or why she thought it would be tasty. I was out on a short shopping adventure to Target when I decided to call Kevin and see if he needed anything. I was pissed because the phone line was busy. I kept trying to call for about 15 minutes. I called his cell and couldn't get him. I thought who is he talking to? Kevin never talks on the phone. He finally called me back to tell me that an EMT just left our house. Kevin explained to me that Cassidy had swallowed a jack. Cassidy was watching a movie in the living room and he heard her crying from the office. She was crying "Mommy, mommy!". When Kevin approached her, she pointed to her throat and was gaging. Kevin didn't know what was in her throat at the time, so just told her to try and cough up whatever was lodged in her throat. Kevin tried slapping her back a few times hard, but she kept crying and it didn't come out. Her face then started to turn somewhat blue - which is when Kevin called 911. The 911 dispatcher kept Kevin on the phone getting information from him. While he was on the phone with 911 Kevin performed the Heimlich maneuver and Cassidy threw up the jack. Kevin told the 911 dispatcher that she seemed okay, but they insisted on sending out the EMT. They came inside the house and checked to make sure Cassidy's throat was ok and that she didn't swallow anything else and was breathing ok. I'm so grateful that Kevin called 911 and was able to save our baby. For some reason Cassidy wants to put everything in her mouth and we have been telling her not to do this since she was about one. Maybe this will cure her of putting toys in her mouth.

Swimming outside on January 31st!!!

Swimming in my parents hot tub. She had so much fun. I think she is part fish.
After swim lessons on Saturday I took Cassidy to my parents house for a visit. Poor Kevin was home sick with a virus. Cassidy had a choice of going to a park and having a picnic or staying at my parents house and swimming in the hot tub. Guess what she picked? Dad and I went to Costco while the hot tub warmed up. Cassidy got to play with Grandma while Dad and I were gone. As soon as we returned Cassidy and Grandpa got in the hot tub. My dad told me that the temperature was about 75, and he could barely get in. I eventually got in when it warmed up to about 90. She did get to have a picnic in their backyard. Dad bought a yummy take and bake pizza from Costco. I highly recommend those pizza's to anyone who has a Costco membership:)
