2011 is the year to Despoil Cassidy =)

It's hard to believe that our baby will be six on Jan. 7th!!! This is the year to despoil her. This is a picture of Cassidy in her pretend car in our family room. The funny story about this picture is when I asked her why are you wearing sunglasses she replied, "Because when you drive Mommy you always wear sunglasses." Kevin and I are trying to make her do chores for a small allowance (about $5 a week). In an attempt to despoil her we are also trying to tell her NO more often. I just have to share a funny story that happened while we were on Christmas break. I took her to a place called Going Bonkers. I made Cassidy use her own coins to play all the video games there. I paid her admission. Anyway she had won four small stuffed animals from a claw game and quite a few tickets, but her money was gone. I must also add the we had lunch at Chili's with some friends before hand and she had lunch and ice cream at the restaurant. Okay I'm getting to the funny part I promise. They have a concession stand at Going Bonkers but we had already had lunch and I had water for her and I to drink. She was hot after playing in the huge play area and realized they sold Popsicles at the concession stand. I told her that I wouldn't buy her one and was sorry she had used all of her money on games so no Popsicles. Mundy and I suggested that she ask the manger if she could trade one of her stuffed animals that she won for the Popsicle. I thought of course the lady would refuse her so we waited in line and when we got to the counter Cassidy asked the lady and guess what the lady said I don't normally do this type of thing but just this once for you I will. Good thing she is still cute I guess!!! We will continue to work on making Cassidy earn money to purchase things and also attempt to tell her no quite a bit more. We love that girl so much it's so easy to spoil her. Just had to share this story. Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and a Safe New Year =)

Ready for Summer!

This is one of my all time favorite pics of Cassidy! She is now 5 years old and will start Kindergarten in the fall. We are looking forward to summer vacation this year! I have decided to stay home with her this summer and enjoy some time with her while she still enjoys being around me. She has been going to daycare for 4 years and has her last day June 11th.
She has learned so much and loves her teachers and all her little buddies. Cassidy loves to swim and has been in our pool nonstop the last three weeks. She can swim the length of the pool without coming up for air! I will try to be a better blogger this summer.

February Fun

As usual I'm a little behind on updating our blog. We have had a wet cold winter this year. This February we enjoyed a snow day and about 8 inches of snow! Cassidy and Kevin had a blast while I stayed inside with Jackie. Cassidy told me, "Mommy you aren't a fan of this snow are you?" My Dad turned 60 on the 27th and by then the temperatures were normal again and we were able to go to the park on Dad's birthday. Grandpa, Lynn, and Cassidy blowing out the candles on his cake.

Cassidy's Birthday celebrations!

Our baby turned five!!! She started her celebration by having a tooth pulled! She has had to have several different dental procedures this month including several crowns, fillings, and having her tooth pulled. Mom and I took Cassidy to the American Girl store where she got to have lunch and picked out her very own bitty baby. She celebrated with her friends at a tea party. She had a wonderful time celebrating this year. We also found out this month at her annual checkup with the cardiologist that Cassidy's hole in her heart is completely healed and her EKG showed no sign of rapid heart rate. Her cardiologist was so happy with her results that he didn't want to see her for two years! Cassidy is five!!!!

Fall Fun

We have been busy this fall. We started out by going to the State Fair. I look forward to this every year. Kevin and I take a day off work so we can enjoy the fair without the crowd. Kevin coached Cassidy's soccer team this fall also. They had a lot of fun, but soccer is definitely not her thing. She ran off the field several times because she was hot and tired. Cassidy continues to take dance lessons which she loves. Kevin got free tickets to a Stars game and we enjoyed taking Cassidy and a neighbor friend. We had an eventful Halloween this year because Cassidy had the swine flu and pneumonia. She was able to make it out to trick or treat but she missed out on some parties. All in all we had a busy fall!
